Monday Meal Plan

In: Life

When I make meal plans, I don’t necessarily plan on making every item on the exact day I listed. IMy real goal is to make sure that there are ingredients for every meal, every day. I did pretty well last week–I made everything on my list except pizza. I’ll put it on the list for [...]

Sam’s Club

In: Frugal, Life, Shopping

My grandfather used to give us all a Sam’s Club membership for Christmas every year.  When he stopped bothering with that, we missed it and started paying the membership fee on our own.  The last few times we were there, though, we didn’t buy much, and actually thought the prices were fairly awful.  Our membership [...]

shopping for others

In: Life

One of the coolest things about the type of shopping that I do now is that I can help save money for my family, too.  My mom and aunt came down to visit with me yesterday, and we hit CVS and Walgreens while we were out. (We ate both lunch and dinner out, so I [...]

You win some, you lose some.

In: Life

Since I have entered the frugal mindset, I have tried to make myself do those fiddly little tasks that I would otherwise blow off.  For example, yesterday I bought the wrong Colgate at Kroger, and my Cellfire e-coupon didn’t come off my total. I used a paper coupon so it was just fifty cents in [...]

Kroger, 1/21

In: Life

I wish I had had time to take a picture of my shopping trip this morning, but I was in a major hurry and had to get the refrigerated and frozen things put away pronto.  Most everything else is still sitting around in the kitchen, awaiting my attention.  I thought I had enough time to [...]

Coupon booklet from Kroger!

In: Life

I received a huge coupon booklet in the mail today from Kroger! It was called “Big Game Party Plan”. I was pretty happy because I never get coupons from Kroger now that I am actually a coupon shopper, and also, I tried to convince myself to go grocery shopping today and failed, so getting the [...]

Happy CVS trip!

In: Life

I headed over to CVS this afternoon to check out the week’s deals. My CVS is not conveniently located so I usually make an effort to only go once a week and I skip going some weeks altogether.  I was kind of excited about the greeting card deal, though I am apparently in an American [...]

Little things add up

In: Life

I have always had a frugal streak in me, though that streak has gotten wider as I’ve gotten older. Luckily, I married someone thrifty as well–that makes life easier! Anyway, I have always had a ton of little things that I do to save money. Some of them I have laughed at even to myself [...]

About this blog

When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!
