pumpkiny goodness

In: Home, Life

Evie and I went on a massive Walmart trip today and used a freakish number of coupons.  Although Evie asked me if I had coupons for pumpkins, I sadly did not. I did, however, buy two of them anyway. It was one of the reasons that we were going in the first place. My husband, [...]

Happy birthday!

In: Home, Life

Just a quick little note to say happy birthday to my most faithful reader… my daddy!  :) Love you!

Homemade Dollhouse Bookcase

In: Home, Kids, Life

Back in January, I posted about a site with free furniture plans called Knock Off Wood. (She’s since moved everything to Ana-White.com).  I’m clearly not going to be the most prolific woodworker ever, but I have followed through with my intentions to build something from one of those plans and thought it’d be a good [...]

Thinking outside the box

In: Frugal, Home, Life

I used two $5/$20 at Rite Aid yesterday, plus a coupon for a free Bayer Contour (to get my total up over $20) to purchase two brand new books by two of my favorite authors for $3.17 each.   I paid with a $25 gift card that I got for free. There are things other [...]

Things That Make Me Happy

In: Home, Life

I have always enjoyed laundry. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t choose to do laundry over, say, having ice cream, but I do enjoy the process of taking dirty stinky clothes and then seeing them all nicely folded and put away.  It’s one reason why the prospect of using cloth diapers didn’t faze [...]

Household Hint!

In: Home

To save yourself a little time and hassle, put a few extra trashbags in the bottom of your trashcans. Then when you take out the trash, you can just reach in and grab one to replace the one you’re taking out! In my house, taking out the trash is my husband’s job, but replacing the [...]

Stockpile Organization

In: Home

My friend Heather expressed a bit of alarm about the pictures of my stockpile.  She was concerned that the  items wouldn’t get used in a timely fashion and need to be thrown out before using, thereby killing any savings.  I thought I would post a little more about the organizational methods of stockpiling here.  I [...]

It takes so little to make me happy…

In: Home

While I was taking pictures of my stockpile last week, it occured to me that we could actually add another shelf or two to the built-in shelves in that room.  So this afternoon, we headed off to Lowe’s to buy another shelf, and M finished installing it (which required TWO more trips to Lowe’s before [...]

My Stockpile

In: Home

I kept waiting around to post about my stockpile until I got it all perfectly organized.  It has occured to me that I will never get it perfectly organized, especially since things change so often with the addition (and removal!) of items every week.  Evie and I spent a long while in there one day [...]

Cleaning Microwaves

In: Home

Microwaves get dirty so easily, and yet, you can conveniently close the door on said dirt and not think about it while cleaning up the kitchen. Or at least, I am guilty of that, until suddenly I look in there and am struck by the shame of living in such filth. Cleaning the microwave can [...]

About this blog

When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!
