Monday Meal Plan – Recycling Edition

In: Food

Last week, spring hit us with a dose of sunny happy goodness, and we went out for dinner twice.  That’s pretty unusual for us these days, and while it wasn’t exactly frugal, we had two separate evenings of quality family goodness.  Then we left for the weekend before cooking the pre-scheduled meal on Friday, so [...]

Monday Meal Plan

In: Food

Last week, without the meal plan? I did not like that.  We didn’t eat particularly well and there was a lot of angst.  Let’s not try it again for a while. Monday Meal Plan Monday: spaghetti, salad Tuesday: ziti with roasted vegetables Wednesday: burritos, Mexican rice, chips and salsa Thursday: potato ham casserole, salad Friday: [...]

Taco Soup

In: Food

This last one is based on the recipe at A Year of Crockpotting. I made a few changes, so click over there if you want the original version.  It reminds me of a cross between chili and vegetable soup. Taco Soup 2 cans of kidney beans 2 cans of corn, undrained 1 large can of [...]

Cheddar Vegetable Soup

In: Food

This one is usually my husband’s favorite, although apparently he told my mom that it wasn’t very good on Sunday. ;)  Kidding! He did say that it wasn’t as good as usual but I’ve been giving him a hard time about it.  It really wasn’t the best incarnation of this soup I’ve ever made but [...]

I live about an hour and a half to two hours away from my family, so it’s pretty rare that I have a lot of people over at once.  I like to do a family thing about once a year, though.  These past two years, it has been Evelyn’s birthday party.  I figure that we [...]

Meal Plan for the week

In: Food, Great Deals

I seem to have taken the weekend off from blogging! Oops. :) We were away for the weekend, staying with my parents. Yesterday was my birthday and so my mom and I went shopping.  My daughter’s second birthday party is this Sunday so I had a burning need to find some Elmo-themed items.  That doesn’t [...]

Monday Meal Plan, 4/26

In: Food

I am actually writing this on Sunday afternoon while M is at the store with Evelyn, though I will schedule it to post tomorrow.  It is so nice to have a little time to myself upon occasion!  That has been especially rare in the last few weeks, for one reason or another, so I am [...]

Meal Plan for the week of 4/19

In: Food

I was too busy to write a meal plan this weekend, so here I am on Monday, trying to get the week planned.  I did some grocery shopping on Saturday with no plan, and that means that I’m most likely going to need to go to the grocery again.  That’s a waste of time and [...]

Tuesday Meal Planning

In: Food

I meant to post this last night but I accidentally fell asleep instead. Meal Plan for the week of 4/12 Monday:  ziti with roasted vegetables — Evelyn’s favorite meal Tuesday: leftover turkey for husband. unknown for me–possibly quesadillas. Wednesday: burgers–I found buns marked down at Kroger last night so I figured we might as well. [...]

Meal Plan Monday

In: Food

I didn’t post a meal plan last week because it was kind of hectic around here. We didn’t even get home from my parents until Monday, and then my mom was with me so we were too busy having fun to worry about dinner. By the time I figured out a plan, it was too [...]

About this blog

When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!
