Living better, spending less.
There is something pretty wonderful about shopping for profit.
( I would like to stop taking pictures at such a steep angle so you can’t see the front of anything very well, but that would require me to clean up too many toys from my living room floor.)

Note that that is $20 profit after the rest of the overage paid for a package of diapers and forty-some fillers.
I love Walgreens.
A few notes.. Mostly, the overage came from the One a Day vitamin drink mixes. They’re $.99 each. I had quite a few $1 coupons (from the K-mart booklet–they have the K-mart logo but they’re manufacturer coupons) which made them free, and buying three produces a $5 RR. I also had a few $1 Carefree Ultra coupons and Neosporin coupons that gave a bit of profit. I was intensely proud of the Ghiradelli chocolate deal. They were on clearance for $.65 each…. and there are IVCs in the September coupon booklet for $1/2. I paid $.15 each for those chocolates! As much as I buy, and as many transactions as I do, I try hard to not empty their shelves, especially at the beginning of the week. But for clearance, I gladly made an exception and bought all they had. I will so be keeping an eye out for more at that price… because my svelte body really needs more chocolate.
My store didn’t have the Murine ear stuff at nine on Sunday morning, so I wasn’t surprised to see that it was still out of stock. :) I wasn’t surprised, but disappointed, to see that the True North stuff was gone. I still have twelve coupons left, so I need to find some in stock in a few places before the end of the week. I was going to the other side of town after I left, but I was there longer than I planned (of course) and Evelyn was beginning to beg to go home, so I took her.
There’s one more super fantastic deal this week–certain varieties of Triaminic (Triaminic Night Time Cold & Cough UPC 3 0043 6344 04 5 and Triaminic Allergy strips UPC 0043 6383 14) are producing two $5 RRs instead of just one. My store was out of those, though. Well, it was definitely out of the Cold & Cough, and I forgot to check about the Allergy but I’m thinking I won’t be heading back out tonight to double-check on that one. ;)
When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!
