Living better, spending less.
This week has been, and probably will continue to be, very shopping-heavy. Yard sale this weekend. :) I am not even showing the Walmart trips! I am just getting tired of arranging all my purchases on the floor before putting them away. Did I tell you that Evelyn lined up some of her toys the other day on the floor and then ran for the camera, saying, "Need to take a picture, Mommy!" and then pointing at every item saying "How much?" I think I may have warped my child. That’s exactly what I do when M is home.
I had to drive an hour to get to a Kmart that’s doubling this week. I could have done better except that they were out of stock on a lot of stuff–afternoon on the first day of the sale. My husband has extreme patience, for he got stuck pushing Evelyn around Kmart for two hours, and then another half an hour while I was talking to Customer Service. I forgot to use a coupon in the ad for $5/$50 and I was hoping for them just, you know. Hand me the $5. That’s what they do at other places and so I thought it was worth asking, but after standing there forever while she tracked down an answer, the result of my wait was that she’d have to void every single item and re-ring it. I decided that it just wasn’t worth the hassle and left. I am a bad couponer. :)
Still…
Total Cost: $30.14 (before coupons – $147ish.)
That’s not too bad! The four boxes of toys alone would have cost more than that without coupons. :) Santa will be bringing Evelyn a pretty large set of Trios for Christmas (I’ve bought more that I haven’t shown here–the more the better, when it comes to blocks.) I can’t believe I had most of her Christmas present bought before September!
When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!

The story about Evelyn cracked me up! I even read it out loud to my DH. Man oh man, the things our kids pick up on! hahahaha. They help us learn so much about our…quirks.
