Living better, spending less.
I went shopping out of town today and had such a nice time! I went with my couponing friend. It’s so funny because I spend something like $16 for everything I bought all day long (and Target overcharged me by at least $3.) Well, not counting lunch. I don’t have pictures because.. well, because I didn’t take any, but it was great fun and I got a lot of really good stuff. It’s just such a different thing when you go shopping with another couponing friend! I had bags and bags and bags of stuff.
Also, when I got home, the mailwoman had left me even more goodies:
No, that is not an extra 0 at the end of that last line. Last month, I signed up for a Chase Sapphire credit card. I won’t link to the deal because it’s expired now. The deal was that you would get 25,000 points upon your first purchase, and then you can redeem that amount of points for a variety of things, including a check for $250. The points credited to my account and I ordered it, and the other reward check (from BP–5% back on gas!) earlier this week.
So…sometimes I do things other than shop, that’s what I’m trying to say. I spent nothing out of pocket for this $250. I need to close the account before the year is up, because there’s a $95 annual fee for this card, but other than that–no hassle and no pain.
(We’ll see how it goes–my husband signed up for a card as well, so I’m hoping he’ll be able to receive his $250 bonus as easily as I did! If so–that’s an incredibly easy $500 income right there.)
When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!
