Living better, spending less.
Last night was fun. I left the baby with her daddy for some evening shopping. I have been feeling neglectful of my shopping this week, so it was nice to play catch up. This is eight transactions in multiple stores, so don’t worry that I cleaned anyone out on body wash. Actually, I went shopping on Tuesday morning at "my" Walgreens and they were already out of the Softsoap, and I was afraid they wouldn’t get enough back in later that day when the truck came that I’d end up with any this week. I was really surprised to find that they actually were very well stocked.
OOP: $17.91 (3.58, 1.40, 2.23, 2.23, 2.35, 4.02, .89, 1.21)
RR Spent: $36 (5, 5, 4, 2, 2, 2, 5, 3, 4, 4)
Total Spent: $53.91
RR Received: $58 (2, 4, 3, 2, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 2, 4, 5, 5)
Total Cost: $4.09 profit
Plus! I found a quarter in the parking lot. ;)
Most of the overage came from the $5 RR that is printing through the rest of this week when you spend $25. I had two $25 transactions and six other, non-$25 transactions. There was also a small amount of overage from the Huggies wipes, some from coupons used on the Softsoap, some from the Listerne and some from the Band-Aids. The cool thing is that it’s $4 profit even after it covered the three cans of mushrooms at $.50 each, the $1 for each brush, the activity book and the applesauce, as well as the tax from everything. Awesome. Also, Evie needed applesauce. She loves it, but is scarily name-brand partial. But, once you start buying things on sale, it’s difficult to go back to shelling out full retail.
I wanted to buy more wipes, but they were out. I will most likely try to squeeze in at least one more trip this week. I just can’t resist the $5/$25 type of sales.
When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!
