I had so much fun yesterday! I wasn’t feeling the love for shopping much last week so I only made the one trip to Walgreens.  But we found ourselves with a few hours to kill before leaving town yesterday, so I volunteered to go grocery shopping while M and Evie stayed home. I am so nice that way.  Anyway, I did pretty well.

CVS

This was purchased using two cards. I have access to a second family member card, which I use sometimes. I don’t keep it going like I do my primary card, except lately, it gets $5/$25 coupons just about every time I scan it.  It hardly seems fair.  100_9497

First Transaction (.78 Out of Pocket + 6.98 ECB)
Bayer Contour, 14.99 (-14.99 coupon, 5.00 ECB)
Bayer Contour, 14.99 (-14.99 coupon, 5.00 ECB)
Schick Quattro, 8.99 (-4.00 coupon, 4.00 ECB)
Schick Quattro, 8.99 (-4.00 coupon, 4.00 ECB)
Bayer Crystal, 2.00 (2.00 ECB)

I used a$5/$25 coupon and received $20 ECB back for a total of $12.24 profit on this transaction.

Second Transaction – 0 Out of Pocket! + 2.00 ECB
Bayer Contour, 14.99 (-14.99 coupon, 5.00 ECB)
Bayer Contour, 14.99 (-14.99 coupon, 5.00 ECB)
Bayer Crystal, 2.00 (2.00 ECB)

I received a total of $12 in ECB and paid zero out of pocket. I rarely get that to work so I was kind of excited. I do much better at shopping without a kid attached. :)

Total Profit: $22.24. Awesome. Now I just need someone to take these testing kits off my hands…

A note on the Bayer coupons.  I have purchased two sets of these on eBay.  The first set I bought back when they weren’t in as high demand, and paid about a dollar for ten. The second time around, there was a good Walgreens deal going, and I paid $5.45 for ten.  I used four of them to get that twenty dollars of overage, leaving me with six. I’m hoping to use the rest of them at Walgreens this month for more profit opportunities, but I can never find them in stock.  My secondary Walgreens doesn’t even seem to carry them anymore.

Walgreens

While I was at it, I stopped at the other Walgreens to pick up more diapers.  I usually have a little better luck finding things in stock at that Walgreens but I don’t like the cashiers as well and it’s not as conveniently located.  And, as a bonus–I finally found a Bayer display with $1 coupons! It was hiding on a bottom shelf at the front register–if only I’d gone here first, I could have gotten $2 more in overage at CVS! ;)  Ah, well, next time…

My Walgreens receipts are always complicated because of the multiple transactions, so here’s a summary.

4 Walgreens diapers, B1G1@7.99/ea, which makes them effectively $4.00 minus a $2 Walgreens coupon on each, or $2.00 each
2 Dole peaches, 1.99 with a $1/2 coupon, which made them $1.49/ea (not free but Evelyn loves peaches)
2 Colgate toothpastes, 2.99 with a $1 coupon and $2 Register Reward, or FREE
3 Bayer aspirin, 2.49 with a $1 coupon and $2.50 Register Reward, or 1.01 PROFIT
1 Omega 3 Fish Oil, 8.00 with $8 Register Reward, or FREE
3 Roots of Nature hair care, 6.00 with a $1 coupon and $6 Register Reward, or 1.00 PROFIT
I paid $46.12 out of pocket (which includes $22.50 in RR spent.)  I’ll receive $3.20 for the Prescription Savings Club rebate, and I earned $37.50 in Register Rewards.  That leaves me with a total cost of $5.62.  cost.  Potentially, that could lower to $4.82, but I’m not counting on it–she accidentally rang up five diapers, and then voided the last one.  Last time that happened, it gave me credit for the voided item when I entered the receipt online. They may have fixed that, though. You have to wait a couple of days before entering the receipts, though, so I don’t know if it will or not.

Anyway, subtracting the cost of the non-free peaches, that makes the diapers 66 cents a package, or two cents each. I can deal with that sort of cost for diapering my kid.

What do you do with all this stuff? I really like the Walgreens diapers, so I’ll be using those.  (Or maybe selling them, if she fully potty-trains before working her way through the stash..maybe? please?)  The peaches she’ll eat. Everything else is destined for the yard sale, which will hopefully be soon. I can’t wait to see if this stuff actually sells well. Reports from other drugstore junkies say that they do. We’ll see.  My Walgreens cost of 5.64 minus my CVS profit of $22.64 means that I have a total profit of $16.60 on the stuff I bought today.  I will spend that $16.60 in future drugstore deal shopping. ;)

After I left Walgreens, I did a heavy Kroger run, where I was really pleased with some of my bargains. However, my husband put away a lot of the stuff before I even had it all carried in (and I wouldn’t dream of discouraging him from putting groceries away like that!!) so there’s no picture.  I had a total savings of over 50%, and it was (almost) all useful stuff.  I say almost because I don’t need doggie treats, but I enjoyed the sixty cents of overage. :)  I also bought nineteen boxes of whole wheat spaghetti on clearance for a quarter each.  We have bought this variety in the past and enjoyed it, and it’s better for you.  I also bought six packages of hot dogs for the freezer at .83/each after sales and coupons.  I recently bought seven packages of sausage for .55 each on clearance with coupon at Walmart, so my lucky husband now has a good stock of meat in the freezer. He does love meat. :)  It was fun, but alas, no picture.
