Living better, spending less.
I think I have warped my child. We headed out to go shopping yesterday, and Evelyn said, “Walmart!” as I strapped her into the car seat. ”No, we’re going to Walgreens,” I told her. ”Walgreens!” she said happily. A few miles down the road, she is chattering away and she says, “Walgreens!” There is a slight pause, and then she says, “Coupons!”
You can’t have one without the other, after all!
We went to Walgreens first. I must apologize because math feels too complicated this evening to work out or explain, but I think I came up with a $.47 total cost here… don’t ask me how right now.

I loved how the Fiber choice and chapstick were slight moneymakers by default with the 15% off bonus, and the Mitchum was as well, with the coupon.
Anyway, after we left, we stopped at Rite Aid. As much as I usually hate that store, I must also say that a cashier ran out from behind the counter as I was walking in to stop and talk to me about coupons. She apologized for the last visit, when she refused to let me use a $2 Excedrin coupon on a $1.99 purchase. I had asked her to adjust it down, but she said she couldn’t. (I personally think it’s coupon fraud for the stores to adjust the coupon down, but I won’t argue the matter with them anyway due to it being a waste of time on my part.) She had apparently asked her manager later and was told that she could, so she wanted me to know that in the future, I’d be allowed to do that. I thought it was nice of her to let me know. So out of character for this store! ;)
I did two (nearly) identical transactions–one for me and one for my parents. Total cost of $4.23 for both after I send in the receipts for the Caregivers Marketplace rebate.
Items Purchased (each transaction)
1 Huggies Pull-up, $8.99 - $3 SCR
1 Bengay heating pad, $6.99 – $6 SCR
2 GE Reveal light bullbs, $3/ea- $4 SCR
2 Dove conditioners, $3/ea – $2 SCR (second transaction had one shampoo instead of two conditioners)
Coupons Used
-5.00 $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon x 2
-3.00 Huggies pullups x 2
-1.00 Bengay x 2
-1.50 Dove conditioner x 3
-1.00 Dove shampoo x 1
Total: $4.23
Evelyn is enjoying the big girl “diaper panties”. She wore Pull-Ups for the first time today. She has suddenly decided that using the potty is mostly acceptable so this particular sale was well-timed. :)

When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!

Do you have a PDF for the Natural Dentist rebate? I didn’t realize they had ended it since it said May 31 on it. I thought I had time. I just bought the stuff and now can’t get the rebate forms!
Thanks!
