Living better, spending less.
I didn’t post a meal plan last week because it was kind of hectic around here. We didn’t even get home from my parents until Monday, and then my mom was with me so we were too busy having fun to worry about dinner. By the time I figured out a plan, it was too late to even bother posting.
Anyway, this week, here’s what we have planned…
Meal Plan
Monday: burritos (leftover meat will be frozen)
Tuesday: spaghetti with meat sauce
Wednesday: super sandwiches, possibly a vegetable or two
Thursday: ziti with roasted vegetables
Friday: sausage, crockpot mac and cheese, steamed veggies
Super sandwiches are gigantic sandwiches that I invented for my sandwich-loving husband. I slice up some sausage, onions and green peppers and fry them in a skillet until delicious, and then put them in a large loaf of bread with some cheese, and sometimes I even brush the top with garlic butter. Then the whole thing is wrapped in foil and baked until hot and bubbly. Delicious! M used to fix himself one quite often and take the pieces for lunch that week, but he hasn’t done that in a long while.
When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!

K – I have to say your Meal Plan Mondays have inspired me to do the same. Last week was my first week actually making a plan becuase we were eating out way to much. I stuck to it until Thursday and just didn’t have the urge to cook. Dirk also got into it. I let him move the meals around as it suited him. He loved it!
So, thanks for inspiring me. Hopefully I am eating healthier and definitely saving a penny or two.

I’m glad! I almost never make the meals on the days I assign them because I’m too moody about food. I bet Dirk was glad to give his input. :)
