Living better, spending less.
I stopped in at Walgreens on my way home from shopping with my parents and niece on January 2. I actually had a horrible cough and requested that they stop in at Walgreens for some Robitussin. It’s hard to believe, but I was actually out. I was sure that the bottles I had purchased a few months ago would expire before I needed more but I guess that’s the good news of being sick repeatedly. (Looking on the bright side here!) I meant to just grab the Robitussin and run but my parents got into looking at the Christmas clearance and I found a few more bargains.

After all Register Rewards and coupons (I had one coupon for $1/3 chocolate chips but sadly, they only had two, marked at $1/each. What a waste!), I spent a little less than five dollars on the whole lot.
5 Robitussins, 3.99/ea (used two $2 coupons–this would have been much better if I had had more than two!) with $15 RR
1 Karo syrup (used .40 coupon)
2 Nestle chocolate chips
1 Musselman’s apple pie filling
1 Crisco (used .55 coupon)
I think I need to bake some cookies this afternoon.
When I became a stay-at-home-mom, I promised I could save our family money by shopping sales and maybe even using a few coupons. I had no idea what I was getting into. These days, I am on a first-name basis with the cashiers at the local drugstores, I haven't paid for toothpaste or shampoo in over a year and I spend my free time here, helping others do the same. So please, make yourself at home while you learn how to save, and when to spend!
